Abstract:In order to discuss the application of steel slag from Pingxiang Iron and SteelCo.,Ltd.in asphalt pavement, after the inspection and analysis of the physical and mechanical properties and chemical composition of the steel slag, the asphalt mixture AC-13 was designed by replacing part of limestone with steel slag, and the pavement performance of it was studied experimentally. First,anorthogonal test was carried out to optimize the volume parameters of the asphalt mixture. The optimal combination is as follows:gradation 2,asphalt-aggregate ratio 5.0% and steels lag content 25%. Then,based onthebestcom- bination,theasphaltmixtureswithdifferentsteelslagcontentsweredesignedandtheir pavementperformancesweretested.Theexperimentalresultsshowthatcomparedwiththe asphaltmixturewithoutsteelslag,thehigh-temperaturestabilityandwaterstabilityofthe asphaltmixturemixedwithsteelslaghavebeenimprovedindifferentrangeswiththein- creaseofsteelslagcontent.Whenthesteelslagcontentis75%,thedynamicstabilityof theasphaltmixtureincreasesby43%,itsresidualstabilityincreasesby3.1%,anditsten- silestrengthratioincreasesby3.7%.Whenthesteelslagcontentis50%,thefatiguelif
